Cybersecurity – use of free wi-fi

At the NAPFA Spring conference this week, it was mentioned several times that advisors may not be taking cybersecurity seriously.  They think it won’t happen to them – as do many of their clients.

This information can be used by both you and your clients – don’t use free wi-fi in airports, coffee shops or hotels without proper security.  Even a simple task of checking your email or Facebook page can allow someone to access your device and hijack your email.

Don’t use free wi-fi without doing so securely –  use either a VPN or an application that creates a VPN.  Or use a personal hotspot.
