It has been said that clients are the weakest link when it comes to cybersecurity. They aren’t always very tech savvy. They typically send non-public private information via email without securing the data – an open invitation. Often they use the same password, and not a very strong one, for every website they access opening themselves to email hijacking. This then becomes the Advisor’s problem when they receive an email requesting a wire transfer or sale of assets that ends up not being from the client.
Time to include cybersecurity information in your monthly newsletters to clients. Give them the information to protect themselves; which ends up protecting you.
